In Loving Memory of Don

On Monday, July 8, 2019, Donald Gross, a loving husband, father and brother passed away peacefully at age 86.  Don was born on June 25th, 1933 in Jersey City, NJ to Gustave and Christina (O’Connor) Gross. On February 14th, 1959 he married Dorit Boehm and they raised two children, Danny and Delane in Pompton Lakes, NJ. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.  He then worked for Red Star Express for over 45 years before he retired to Bradenton, FL in 1995.

Don had a passion for fishing and had many adventures with his cousin Captain Rick. He loved to fix anything and everything and was a staple in his community for home repairs.  Don also loved to cruise nearly every year and visit new places all around the world.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Gustave, his mother, Christina, his brother, Gustave Jr. and his son, Danny. He is survived by his wife Dorit, daughter Delane (Jason) Solana, daughter in-law Kelley, his grandchildren; Nicholas (Robyn) Solana, Kristie (Joshua) Warner, Shalor Simonson, Julianna and Danielle Gross, along with his first great granddaughter Rose Warner.  He is also survived by his sister Elaine (Don) Hasher, first cousin Richard (Joyce), along with several more cousins, nieces, and nephews.
